Explanation / Answer
The issue was about a product that was delivered to the client for Client acceptance testing or User Acceptance testing. In the testing phase the product was not been able to perform as per the client requirement and hence the client is not ready to accept such a product with very low efficiency. As the testing was done based on various tough parameters in order to ensure the best quality I was not at all happy with the feedback from the client and I wanted to visit the client location to do a validation myself as the product was like my own child because the idea, design and development was done primarily by myself. I almost challenged the client that the product has a very efficiency and cannot perform poorly within the parameters set by the client. The client called me over and while I was travelling I realized that if the product fails in front of my presence we are sure that the relation with the client is going to deteriorate.
The communication initially was virtual through phone calls, emails and video conference but as I was travelling to the client location, the communication was face to face. I always prefer face to face communication in case of any issue because I believe that only then I can respond better. The testing was again done and I noticed that the product setup was wrong by the client which was causing the issue and I resolved the issue by doing the proper setup which made the product work as per the requirement and even better than what they were expecting.
While communicating with the client I was a bit aggressive which could have hampered the relation with the client but my emotions got out of control because the product was developed by myself and hence my expectation was high because I left no stone unturned for the product to be the best in the industry. I should not have reacted in such a matter, instead I could have adopted a diplomatic attitude and followed the basic business ethics because that is what is expected from me. A lack of professionalism was observed by my attitude which was not pointed out by my manager but I realized it myself that I could have reacted in a better manner. This has helped me a lot in the future because in order to grow as a professional in this field. I have learnt to control my emotions in business situations and instead I have been humble, polite and abided by the values and ethics of business communication. In business communication is one of the most important aspect and should be done with diligence.
