Physical security is the security measures that are used to control the unauthorized access to facilities, equipment and resources in order to protect personnel and property from damage. Physical security includes the use of multiple layers of interdependent systems, which includes CCTV, security guards, barriers, locks and access controls etc. The prime location and areas where these protective equipment’s are used- 1. Placing physical barriers such as fences, walls and vehicle barriers at all the relevant entrance points. Installing key- card access systems at main entrances and on other appropriate doors. 2. Natural surveillance is another way of protecting office spaces whereby architects seek to build spaces that are more open and visible to security personnel. 3. Security lighting in installed on doors, gates and other entrances. Intruders are less likely to enter a well-lit areas for fear of being seen. 4. Alarm systems and sensors are installed in order to protect from unauthorized access in areas such as server rooms, inventory rooms etc. 5. Video surveillance is one of the most important aspect of threat prevention. Good quality CCTV cameras are installed on all the access areas. A worker must me dedicated to monitor the real time situation through these cameras so that proper actions can be taken in timely manner. 6. Security personnel plays a vital role in all layers of security. A proper security force is far most important and should be trained properly to use all the technological security systems. One most important aspect of security is not allowing piggybacking. Despite of all the security measures piggybacking can only be controlled by trained guards and other authorized employees. Piggybacking can proved to be a major threat for the office hence is not permitted. Policies for visitors and contractors- Visitors and contractors are allowed in office premises only after proper verification. Personal information of theses personnel’s should be recorded properly including- · Home address and telephone number. · ID proof A temporary access key-card should be issued and visitors needs to return it back while exiting the premise.
