I would've spit in his eye and walked out for good. Wende asked, "What in the world happened?" Eleanor explained, "Sue had the misfortune to make a simple booking mis- take when Dr. Greer was at his busiest. He's a bear most of the time anyway and we all know how he's been lately with the group running one physician short." Wende said, "We obviously shouldn't make booking errors, but as hectic as it gets around here they're bound to happen once in a while and there's usually nothing serious about them." Kay said, "You'd think they were life threatening the way he took off on her. He called her about 10 different kinds of an idiot and said he was going to have her fired for incompetence. He literally screamed at her, in front of the four of us and Dr. Wilson and at least three or four patients in the waiting area. No class, rotten style," Eleanor muttered. The others nodded in agreement. Why did Sue go home?" Wende asked. She cried in the ladies room for nearly half an hour, but ev Eleanor answered, "Greer really leveled her and ordered her out of the office. en after she calmed down a bit she was afraid to come back in. She just signed out and went home. Explanation / Answer

Answer

1) Wende should approach sue to discuss about the incidence and console her, help her the way out to file grievance complaint before she resigns if she had decided to resign. She can make her understand that she has right to safety and well-being at workplace and being a strong employee, she can learn to improve her performance and can get much better work at a good organisation. she has right to claim damages before that she needs to write a grievance to the HR and then approach for legal action. This decision she can take if Greer don't ask her forgiveness and won't change his behaviour.

2) Wende can approach Dr Greer and explain him that bullying is not tolerable and it will bring down the morale and performance of the employees. He will be faced with legal action against his behaviour. It is important to make him understand that workplace pressure can be normal and needs to be dealt calmly. Bullying though has no outright law but it can be taken to court by indirect means through right of life, right to safety and security, he will be liable for the damage to the reputation and impacting Sue's dignity. If he behaves in this way with any of the employees he has to face the legalities and lose respect. It is better to ask sue for forgiveness and change behaviour to resolve the issue.

3) wende needs to consider the facts of bullying and legalities associated to it. She needs to approach both the individuals, sue and Dr Greer, with all the facts and legal constraints. She needs to explain she about steps she can take to claim her damages and of she thinks of resigning how can she take help of high authorities and law.

If the mutual trust and confidence has broken with employer due to bullying at work, then sue can resign and claim constructive dismissal. sue may have only a short time, possibly as few as 180 days to file a complaint with a government agency. She must file such an administrative complaint before she can file a lawsuit, so missing this deadline will likely mean she has no legal recourse.

She needs to address this too Greer also to foresee the damage or ask sorry to sue and retain employees and stay away from legalities, and removing bullying from his behaviour and from organisation. Otherwise all the witnessed employees will act as an evidence against his behaviour if he failed to take the issue seriously.
