Concurrent and predictive validity are types of criterion validity. Concurrent validation is measuring the test against a benchmark test and if the correlation is high the test is considered to have strong criterion validity. Predictive validity is measuring the test with the abilities it predicts. A group of subjects are tested and which are then compared with the future results obtained at some point. Predictive validation is preferable because applicants feel more involved and motivated to give this test than the current employees who get frightened to give this test. In concurrent validation, it cannot be known the job learnings and employees capability before hiring. Also, concurrent validation has a restriction on the range due to the left of the poor performers before the result is evaluated. In this case, the correlation coefficient is lower. Through predictive validity, it can be seen that depending on the concurrent and predictive methods of how each method is different from the other.
