Discuss two or three of the major shifts that have occurred in managerial theories and concepts pertaining to the evolution of human resources.

As the human resources are evolving, there are certain major shifts which are taking place in managerial theories and concepts.

As per the modern theories , McGregor's Theory X and Theory Y and Maslow'sTheory of Motivation managers are not only focused on monetary incentives but are more bothered about the non-monetary benefits as well. Few major shifts which have taken place are :

Human Resources departments have to focus more on the skill enhancement of the employees and employees should be motivated by offering non-monetary benefits as well.

Performance based appraisal system can be incorporated in hospital settings as well. Doctors should be appraised based on the number of successful cases and should be motivated by offering awards and recognitions for their exceptional performance. Training should be imparted to the doctors about the latest medicalpractices and to adopt the modern technology in their profession.

For example,Columbia Asia Hospitals collect the feedback from the patients, their relatives, fellow colleague in order to appraise the doctors.

Health care setting is quite transparent and measurable.It is easy to collect the data based on the number of successful cases attended by a doctor.
