Explanation / Answer

Group communication involves a group of two or more people. One of the strategies is listening. [ Listening is important in individual communication because the person may hear something that is important for them to know for the project they are completing. Also, listening in a group is important the group must active listeners. Being an active listener will help the entire group to become more involved in the project. Next, during individual and group communication it must be decided if it is going to be formal or informal communication that is being used. Using either type of communication, there must still be some coordination, that way the amount of work that gets completed is not minimal. During individual communication there has to be strategies set forth in the beginning in how conflict resolutions can be used if the situation arises. First, each person?s role in the group must be made clear in the beginning. Then if a problem arises it should be discussed at the time it arises, so it can be resolved. Also, even though no one in the group is responsible for the others happiness, their feelings should still be taken into consideration. Yet, individual communication there is really only your ideas have to be considered. Even though there is a lot to consider for both types of communication there is also ways to foster group communication. Ways to foster group communication would be promoting the benefits of a brainstorming meeting, collaborating using everyone?s ideas in the group, and giving the group an incentive for doing a good job.
The difference between group communication and individual communication is that group communication is often related to a unified voice within the group. For example, a team of writers for a popular television show must all agree on what should and should not be included in the script; therefore, the final draft must be approved by all members before their audiences are able to review the finished product, thus creating a "groupthink" mentality. In essence, group communications is a union between multiple members that facilitates one group's mentality, one group thought and one voice. Individual communications (IC) is the act of communicating an idea or concept without the accompaniment of other team members to collaborate with. Each idea generated is solely that of the individual in which case it is up to the individual to implement a strategy to accomplish his/her goal or main objective.
