You are the athletic director (AD) at a Division I university currently in the process of negotiating an employment contract with Will Wynn, your new football coach. Discuss the purpose of the reassignment clause and whether it is in the university’s best interest to include the clause in the contract with Wynn. What may be the legal outcome, if you attempt to reassign a coach and there is no reassignment clause permitting such action?

Institutions often use some legal rules while appointing coaches and reassignment clause is one of them. This clause provides the institution opportunity to shift the coach to other duties from the current position. This clause is very important to be added in the contract because without this clause the institution cannot shift the coach to any other position . Even when it wants to remove th coach from that position it will be very difficult without this cause. If it attempts to reassign a coach without the clause being present ,the coach can take legal action against the institution and can even demand compensation. Hence adding the clause is very important.
