politics can have a major effect on management and policy process for various reasons. We see that today in our current administration as well as those from past years.  Company politics can also have a vast influence on its policies and ultimately decision making. One example is the project proposal process of a business, and which projects the company chooses to undertake. These influences according to Lister, (2018). can encourage and discourage competition and innovation, depending on the nature of the company's political climate. Employees and managers at a small business must work together to manage company politics and not allow these maneuvers to overshadow the formal hierarchy.

Another influence of company politics according to Lister, (2018), is that it circumvents normally established hierarchy within a business. This means a lower-level employee can establish a connection with an executive and gain a voice in decisions he/she may not otherwise have an opportunity to participate in. He/she can influence the decision-making process informally to gain approval for projects that benefit her department and work to kill others that may not provide as great an opportunity to shine. Do you this that this can lead to unrest within the formal managerial hierarchy if other executives and managers notice a lower-level employee exerting undue influence over project development?

Politics in organization leads to bypassing the hierarchy for making decision due to the influence of some employees on the organizational and project level decisions. This can be done when the lower-level employee holds a strong relationship with top executives leading to a possibility of influencing various aspects in the business like the policies, performance ratings, contracts, promotions, assignment of projects etc.

This leads to an unrest within the formal mangerial hierarchy as the mid and top level managers feel that their roles are being abused by individuals who in no capacity have the right to take part in decision making though indirectly. Also, the decisions might be bypassed for selfish reasons leading to loss to the business an dloss of trust on the firm in the minds of employees, stakeholders and customers.
