Question
Give the following article a quick read, or you can Google recent news stories relating to this as well, and I would love to hear your position. Which side do you feel had the strongest argument here and why? (The case was actually resolved last week as the FBI says they were able to break into the phone without Apple's help, but I would still like to discuss it anyway with the idea of privacy and if the case would have proceeded to court.) http://money.cnn.com/2016/02/18/technology/apple-fbi-fight/
Explanation / Answer
I am confident that FBI will not indulge into the private privacy of individuals unless otherwise required in the larger public interest. Therefore, I would like to side with FBI and or other law enforcing agencies to have the rights to break into the phones and or other databases being maintained with Apple, Google, Facebook and or other companies, and organizations in the public interest. There can be a never ending debate about what constitutes the private privacy and what needs to be shared with the public and or with limited number of persons and what is in the interest of public at large. The strongest argument in favor of FBI is about the safety and security of property, and life of innocent persons. In the present case, U.S. Senator is right in asking "why protect a dead ISIS terrorist's privacy". Similarly, arguments should be for the justice demands in favour of victims.
