There is a certain type of tourist who put vacation plans on hold until a major disaster hits somewhere in the world. A Vagabondish article defines a disaster tourist to be one who immediately heads for zones left floundering by natural disasters. As soon as they hear of the travesty they are out looking for the cheapest ticket into the disaster zone. There are two schools of thought considering the disaster tourist. Some are highly uncomfortable with the idea that tourists are coming to gawk at the location's destruction. They come with cameras to document living conditions and washed away buildings. On the other hand, these tourists are arriving at a time when the destination is in desperate need of money. If the tourists were to stay away for too long that fiscal destruction could be more catastrophic than the natural disaster itself. While curiosity is part of human nature, it's important that tourists don't claim to be helping the economy when all they are doing is observing people's misfortunes.

At the very outset I would like to state that persons like the undersigned as "disaster tourists" visit struggling locations primarily for helping all those who get effected with the disasters. Similarly world over there are number of social and religious groups whose manifistation is to help others and in particularly helping the unknowns in dire need of help to recover from misery and gloomy conditions.

I agree, curiosity is very much part of human nature, therefore journalists and other media persons are always the first one to cover the stories related to people's misfortunes but in way they also help and appeal to the fortune ones to help the others who suffered not because of their own actions but due to forces beyond their and or anybody's control . Please do not forget that humans are social and concerned about the society welfare therefore as per my understanding, helping others is also very much part of human nature thats how the development and growth of individuals, groups, firms, companies, states, nations take shape. In todays digital world with information technology coupled with emergence of social media touching everyone's life, I think more and more so called disaster tourists are turning as helpers rather than hindering the rescue operations. At the same time, I am not ruling not part of the tourists being selfish and manipulators who try to focus on their personal gains rather than helping the sufferers. Never the less with more opening of various systems with transperancy and disaster management organizations (both in the Government and non-government ), possibilities of helping is much more as compared to hindering.
