You are a newly hired department director, brought on board to help turn around a struggling department. The members of this department are highly educated and are taking steps to improve the professional development of department members. Despite these efforts, they feel they are underappreciated and lack a voice in the direction that the department is moving. You have leadership experience in a variety of industries, but you have never worked in this specific field.
Based on your preferred leadership style, how would you proceed in attempting to align the goals of the organization with the goals of the department? (The goals are actually the same for the organization and the department, but the two groups have different concepts on how to achieve them.)
What are some effective practices that you would use for leading people and business processes in this situation?
In this situation, what is your role in the decision-making processes that serve to establish an organizational climate oriented to meet business goals?

Participative Leadership styles I am using because this type of leadership stated about the collaboration between the team members, subordinates with leader, this type of leader allowed members to give the opinion about the uncertain issues even though decision making responsibility still in the hand of Leader. This styles is more useful for the above case.
Department Goals is base for the employee performance, a leader should motivate, direct the employee with the base of goals as support to meet the department activities. It makes the leader to evaluate the employee performance.
Effective practices by the leader are:
Make the right employee for right job, it reduce lack of skill as well as lack of experience issue.
Behave politely when employees made any mistake, provide solution for their mistake and tell not to happen in the future.
A leader needs effective communication with the employees to remove the barriers between them as well as between with organization.
Leader should revolved with positive approach towards the employees and provide appropriate feed back to them and provide awards or rewards to motivate them.
My role is Participative Leader in the decision making process, why I have chosen this leadership because to meet the department short time issue, Participative Leader role will make the issue to solve easily.
