Explanation / Answer

(a) Solid smelling salt and (aq) NaOH

NH4Cl + NaOH------------>NH3+NaCl+H2O

Smelling salt(NH4Cl) appears to sublime upon heating but actually decomposes into NH3 gas and HCl gas.It reacts with aq.NaOH, to release ammonia gas.

(b) solid baking soda and aq. Vinegar.

CH3COOH + NaHCO3-----------> CH3COONa +CO2 +H2O

Baking soda vigorously react with vinegar and form CO2gas , sodium acetate salt and water.

(c) Lime stone and conc. Sulphuric acid

CaCO3 +H2SO4---------->CaSO4 + H2O +CO2gas

Lime stone and conc. Sulphuric acid reacts to form a salt calcium sulphate which is blackboard chalk, CO2gas and water.

(d) Solid table salt with concentrated sulphuric acid

NaCl +H2SO4------------> NaHSO4. +HCl

Solid table salt react with concentrated.sulphuric acid and forms HCl gas and sodium bisulphate.

(e) Aqeous solution of table salt and silver nitrate

NaCl + AgNO3-----------> NaNO3 + AgCl

Aqeous solution of table salt reacts with silver nitrate and forms a white solid sodium nitrate and silver chloride.

(f)Aqueous solution of epsum salt and Barium chloride

BaCl2+ MgSO4---------> MgCl2+ BaSO4

The MgCl2 should be soluble while a white ppt. Of BaSO4 will form.
