Need help with the calculations needed to prepare the solutions in this lab
Prepare a solution of 10 mM Ibuprofen in 1 ml filtered distilled water. Use the benchtop shaker and heat up the solution up to 60*C to dissolve completely. Prepare a solution of 10 mM beta -CD in 10 ml filtered 12.5 mM Tris-Acetate solution provided Stock solution of 10 mM phenylbutazone will be provided Working Solutions: Prepare a 5mL solution of 100 mM NaOH from a 0.3 M stock solution of NaOH provided Prepare a solution of 150 mu M ibuprofen in 1 ml filtered 12.5 mM Tris-Acetate from stock solution of ibuprofen Prepare a solution of 150 mu M phenylbutazone in 1 ml filtered 12.5 mM Tris-Acetate from stock solution of phenylbutazone Prepare 1 mL each of 60 mu M, 150 mu M, 300 mu M, 450 mu M, 600 mu M, 750 mu M, 900 mu M, 2100 mu M, 6000 mu M and 9000 mu M of beta -CD concentrations in filtered 12.5 mM Tris-Acetate from stock solution of beta -CD For each run use microtubes (200 mu L) where the volume is less than 300 mu L. Cut off the cap of the tubes with a scissors and place them in plastic CE vials provided. Close vials with grey caps. In cases where the volume is more than 300 mu L use the glass CE vials provided. Close vials with orange caps.Explanation / Answer
FIRST OF TO THE MOLECULAR WEIGHTS OF THE SUBSTANCES OF WHOSE SOLUTIONS TO BE PREPARED.
THEN AS PER THE CONCENTRATIONS REQUIRED FIND THE WEIGHTS OF THE SOLUTES.
Molarity = number of moles /volume of solution in L
TO NOTE 1mM = 10 -3 M
IN THE PROBLEM ALL CONCETRATIONS ARE ASKED IN MOLARITY SO
First convert all concentrations in millimoles to observe uniformity.
To prepare 5 ml of 100 mM of NaOH from a stock of 0.3 M .
0.3M = 300 mM ,
RULE OF TITRATION
M1V1 = M2V2
5X100/300 = 1.666 ML OF STOCK SOLUTION IS NEEDED.
actully in the problem what is B-CD not under stood.
