Question

Review the background knowledge of this lab on iCollege about Beer's law. Answer the following questions. 1. Light is passed through a solution with an optical path length of 2 cm and the absorbance is recorded as 0.40. If light is passed through the same solution at the same wavelength and the optical path length is reduced to 1 cm, what should the absorbance be? 2. A Beer's Law experiment yielded the following data and analysis, a) Read from the data plot, what is the equation for the best fit straight line? b) What is the concentration of an unknown that has an absorbance of 0.524?

Explanation / Answer

1.Answer is 0.2

why because Absorbance is directly proptional to concentration and path length as per Beer's Law

so absorbance depends on pathlength.
