Explanation / Answer

16) Vander Waals equation of state:
   [P + a(n/V)2 ] [ V/n - b] = RT
a - It represents the correction factor for the intermolecular forces
b - Correction factor for very small molecular size which is measured for volume
     of one mole of atom/molecule.
17) If 'a' term for H2O is 52% larger than CO2 then that means that the intermolecular forces of attraction
are greater and stronger than that of CO2 .
The reason for this is that H2O has hydrogen bonding, but in CO2 the 2 C-O bonds oppose and
      cancel each other.
'b' term for H2O is 40% smaller than CO2, this means that the molecular size of H2O is smaller
than CO2. The bond angle in water is 109.5o whereas CO2 has bond angle of 180o , this shows
as to why there is difference in the molecular size.
