(is an electron carrier) Question 3 Not yet answered Marked out of 1.0 Select one or more a. NAD b. NADH Flag question c. FADH e. FAD Which of the following does NOT occur in the mitochondria? Question 4 Not yet answered Marked out of 1.0 Select one: P Flag questiona. glycolysis pyruvate oxidation O c. citric acid cycle O d. oxidative phosphorylation O e. electron transport f chemiosmosisExplanation / Answer
Question 1 - Catabolic means breakdown of large molecule into smaller and produce energy. Aerobic respiration leads to breakdown of various biomolecule start with glucose by the process called glycolysis. Well aerobic respiration requires oxygen and anaerobic occurs in absence of oxygen so they are not most prevalent.Fermentation occurs after glycolysis so fermentation is an anaerobic process. Glycolysis occur in absence as well as presence of oxygen. So the glycolysis is the most prevalent catabolic process.
Question 2 - fermentation, anaerobic respiration and glycolysis occurs in absence of oxygen only aerobic respiration occur in presence of oxygen so aerobic respiration is correct answer.
Question 3 - NAD+, FAD, O2 are the electron acceptor.
Question 4 - Glycolysis occur in the cytoplasm of cell it is not occurs in the mitochondria.
