Explanation / Answer

Ksp for Ca(OH)2

a) with volume of HCl to equivalence point = 30 ml

moles HCl used = 0.05 M x 30 ml = 1.5 mmol

Ca(OH)2 reacted = 1.5/2 = 0.75 mmol

Molarity of Ca(OH)2 = 0.75 mmol/15 ml = 0.05 M

[OH-] = 2 x 0.05 M = 0.10 M

b) [Ca2+] = 0.05 M

c) Ksp = [Ca2+][OH-]^2

           = (0.05)(0.10)^2

           = 5 x 10^-4 M

d) literature Ksp Ca(OH)2 = 5.5 x 10^-6
