You have a mixture of two polymers with equal numbers of segments (both segments are of the same size) that is in the miscible region of the (UCST) phase diagram. You want to change the state of the system from being miscible to becoming immiscible. You cannot change the composition of the mixture, pressure, you are not allowed to add any other chemical moiety to or remove anything from the system. All you can do is to cither vary temperature or change molecular weight. How can you accomplish this and why? (Assume that the system behavior is well described by the Flory T Huggins theory). As decrease in temperature will increase the immisciblity at constant pressure because the solubilty of solute will increse by increse in temperature.
By increasing molecular weight will decrease the solubilty .this is because of high molecular weight components have higher densities this causes immiscibility.
