l is azimuthal quantum number which determines the shape of orbitals and from its value we can come to know the orbital type (s,p,d,f,g).

number of subshell =(2l+1) there will be 2 electrons in each subshell (for full filled )

a) l=0 means 's' orbital which will have 1 subshell and 2 electrons in it.

it Antimony(Sb) from its configuration we can see there are 1s,2s,3s,4s,5s and each of them has 2 electrons(Total 10 lectrons in l=0 ) i.e. 10 electrons will have l=0 as one of their quantum nos.

b) l=2 means 'd' orbital which will have (2×2+1)=5 subshells and d-orbital can have a total of 10 electrons in it(2 electrons in each subshell)

in the electronic configuration of Sb there are 3d and 4d orbitals with 10 electrons in each(total 20 d-electrons)

i.e 20 electrons will have l=2 as one of their electronic configuration.

c) ml is the magnetic quantum no of electron which determine the orientation of orbitals .

for a particular value of l ml can have a total of (2l+1) values which can be from -l to 0 then to +l (integer)

So,all the orbitals will have ml=0 as one of their quantum number.Total 2 electrons in each orbital will have subshell with ml=0 . Here,2 electrons from each 1s,2s,2p,3s,3p,4s,3d,4p,5s,4d all will have 2 electrons in each orbital and 5p has 1 electron with ml=0 and a total of (10×2+1)=21 electrons will have ml=0 as one of their quantum no.

d) all but not s orbitals can have ml=1 (can be shown from the table drawn) (it is not mentioned that either it is +1 or -1 so we hav eto consider both)

no of electrons with ml=+1

so 2p,3p,3d,4p,4d all will have 2 electrons each and 5p orbital has 1 electron with ml=+1 i.e a total of (5×2+1)=11 electrons will have ml=+1 as one of their quantum no.

no of electrons with ml=-1

so 2p,3p,3d,4p,4d all will have 2 electrons each with ml=-1 i.e a (5×2)=10 electrons will have ml=-1 as one of their quantum no.and 5p orbital will have 1 electron with ml=-1

so a total of 11 electrons will have ml=-1 as one of their quantum number
