Suppose this pipet is calibrated by dispensing distilled water from the pipet at exactly the 5 mL mark into a preweighed dry flask. The dry flask weighs 10.5472 g empty, and 15.5733 g with the dispensed water (22 degree C). If the density of the water is 0.997770 g mL-1 at this temperature, what is the actual volume delivered by the pipet?Explanation / Answer
weight of the water = 15.5733 - 10.5472 =5.0261 g
volume of the water =5.0261/ 0.997770 =5.0373 mL
so what we learn is the pipet can only hold 5 mL so the rest will be poured out
so th actual volume delivered by pipet is 5 mL
