My professor stated that in scientific notation the first number has to be a number between 1 and 9... I am doing the homework and in chapter 2 , question 2.38 all of the scientific notation are numbers greater than 9 - for example 13.0x10^2 ? Can this be correct ? May be the question was to write the numbers in correct scientific notation
13.0 * 10^(2) = 1.30 * 10^(3)
Since 13 is not in between 1 and 9. hence we need to make it equal to 1.3 and increase the power from 2 to 3
Hence the correct scientific notation will be 1.30 * 10^(3) and not 13.0 * 10^(2)
