Explanation / Answer

1.Ans-

Psychology deals with people's behaviour and their mental processes. Psychologists study the brain and the nervous system because these are related to people behaviour, thinking and feeling. Human brain is responsible for regulating and monitoring various information that is coming from our external and internal environment. Psychologist used lesions and other brain abnormalities to understand the functions of a healthy brain and their impact on behaviour. Because a psychologist observes the person’s behavioural changes which is normal for that individual.

Psychologists study the brain in different ways include :

1.Brain lesion- Brain damage is caused by either removal or destruction of part of the brain called lesion that produces different behavioural and psychological effects.

2.EEG (Electroencephalogram)-It is an instrument that measure the electrical activity of the brain and most commonly used in sleep research.

3.CAT Scan (Computerized Axial Tomography)- CAT scan is a 3D imaging technique and give the information about the location of tumors but does not give the information of brain activity or function.

4.MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)- MRI gives the detailed information about the structure of a brain.

5. PET Scan (Positron Emission Tomography) – It is the best way to see activity of brain and provides a image of the brain .

Advantages of Case Studies

1.A case study in psychology used to obtain a detailed information about a person or group.

2. The case study in psychology is one of the best ways to develop new ideas.

3.Case studies are carried out on rare cases when large samples of similar participants are not present.

4.Case studies is the potential to give insight into phenomena and allowed researchers to learn how perception and motion changes when suddenly given sight.

Disadvantages of Case Studies

1.Difficult to draw a specific cause of effect from a case study.

2.It is very time consuming because it takes a long period for detailed analysis.

3 Case studies are used for many theories and studies so case studies are not scientific.

4. In case studies there is a possibility of error.

3.Ans-

In contrast, nurture means different environmental factors in which a person is treated from birth to death. Personality is a life long process which resulted from environmentally both genetic and environmental factors.
