Question
What is the mole fraction of O_2 gas in a mixture of 5.08g O_2,7.17g of N_2 and 1.32g of H_2?(Write your answer to 3 significant figures. Do not write units.) What is the partial pressure of O_2 inatm of the mixture if it is held in a 12.40L vessel at 15^0C.(Write your answer with 3 significant figures. Do not write units. R=0.08206 L atm) You have a gas at 35^0C continued to a cylinder with a movable piston. Identity the gas that explains the following results. Pushing down on the piston to halve the valve while keep constant, results in a doubling of the gas pressure.Explanation / Answer
4)
m = 5.08 g O2
m = 7.17 g N2
m = 1.32 g H2
change all to mol
m = 5.08 g O2
n = mol/MW = 5.08/32 = 0.15875
m = 7.17 g N2
n = mol/MW = 7.17/28 = 0.2560
m = 1.32 g H2
n = mol/MW = 1.32/2 = 0.66
total mol =0.15875 + 0.2560 +0.66 = 1.07475
mol frac O2 = mol O2 / total mol = 0.15875/1.07475 = 0.147708
