Question

Chapter 15 Item 12 12 of 17 Constants 1 Period Table Part A For the felowing reaction, K 255 at 1000 K CO (g) + C, ()-COCI, (g) f a reaction mixture initially contains a CO concentration of 0.1470 and a Cl concentration of 0177 at 1000K. What is the equilibrium concentration of CO at 1000 K7 You may want to reference (Pags 993-702) Section 15.8while completing this problem. Expross your answer in molarity to three significant figures [CO-010 Submit incorrect: Try Again: 2 attempts remaining Part B What is the equl brium concentration of Cl at 1000 K? Express your answer in molarity to Shree significant figures Cl- 424102M

Explanation / Answer

CO + Cl2 -------> COCl2

Initial. 0.147 0.177

At Eq. (0.147-x) (0.177-x) x

Concentration of Cl2 = 4.24×10-2 M = 0.177-x

=> x = 0.1346M

So equilibrium concentration of CO = 0.147-0.1346= 0.0124=> 1.24×10-2M.
