A powerful earthquake of magnitude 9.1 occurs along Cascadia subduction zone which results in severe shaking and a massive tsunami. The area mainly affected by this mega thust earthquake extends from Greater Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada to the Pacific northwest to northern California. This earthquake is due to the plate movement of Juan De Fuca plate and the Pacific ocean. The earthquake occurs in the early morning on 7:30 am on January 26, 2019. At that time some of the people were rushing to their offices. Some were still sleeping while housewives were doing their households. Most of the people who were in the offices at that time see that their systems as well as their seats and other loose things were violently shaking due to the earthquake. They rushed to the outside of the building. Some of the buildings were partially damaged by the earthquake. There were fall of chimneys, columns, walls of the factories. The people who were sleeping experienced violent shaking of their beds. Some of them noticed crack in their falls and some experienced that the loosely held items fall off from the roof and walls. Also people who were travelling in the roads experience difficulty in driving. There were some accidents reported during the earthquake. Some of the poorly build houses were completely damaged. Also the earthquake results in Tsunami. Some of the low lying area were submerged by the impact of the Tsunami. Many people were killed and many were injured during the earthquake.
