Compare two of these three fossil fuels as energy sources (e.g. coal vs. natural gas) In your answer, you may choose to address such topics as the costs of the two types of energy production you are comparing (cost to consumer, environmental costs), the energy efficiency of each method, the use of government subsidies to support one or both of the methods you are comparing, the pollution caused by each source, and whether the technology necessary to use each source is currently available and in use.

Explanation / Answer

We can compare coal and natural gas in following manner-

COST TO CONSUMER- As we can see that it is cheap to produce energy from coal than that of natural gas. So it is always beneficial for consumers to produce energy by coal.

COST TO ENVIRONMENT- Since the emission of CO2 is less in producing energy by natural gas. So the natural gas should be used for optimal environmental cost.

Energy Efficiency- Because of higher heat content present in the natural gas it is always beneficial to produce energy by natural gas for efficiency.

The government should provide subsidies on natural gas because even if is costly yet it is environment friendly than coal.

There are less emissions of CO2 by Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC) than that of coal so natural gases are less pollutive.

The technology is being in use for example NGCC.
