As with all interstellar trips, there soon is trouble. Klingons have appeared on the radar. The Klingon ship is superior in its speed but inferior in its weaponry and decides to flee. Their max. speed is 0.97c. The Enterprise has two kinds of weapons. The first is a projectile ''photon torpedo" which can be launched with a speed of 0.8c relative to the Enterprise and a single hit will destroy the Klingon ship. The second is a pulsed ''phaser" that shoots pulsed light rays at an interval of 1/3 Hz. The Klingon ships shield can sustain one hit from the phaser, but not two. But after one hit the ship will start dodging and will be able to avoid the incoming shots if they are spaced by 2.95s or more between shots. Draw a diagram of the reference frames and the different weapons. Can either weapon take out the Klingon ship? If yes, which one(s)? Justify your answers.

b)   Yes, the pulsed "phasor" can take out the Klingon Ship . This is due to it higher relative speed .
