Question
You are standing on the ground at the origin of a coordinatesystem. An airplane flies over you with constant velocity parallelto the x axis and at a constant height of 8.65103 m. At t = 0, the airplane isdirectly above you, so that the vector from you to it is given by0 = (8.65 103 m) . At t= 30.0 s the position vector leading from you to the airplane is30 = (7.62 103 m) + (8.65103 m) . Determine the magnitude and orientationof the airplane's position vector at t = 70.0 s.
This is what I have been trying but my answer is coming outto be “10% from correct value”.
X = Vit
(8.65e3) = Vi(30)
Vi = 288.33 m/s
P=(288.33 m/s)ti + (7.62e3)j
At t =70, P=(288.33 m/s)(70)i +(7.62e3)j
Explanation / Answer
well, your mistake, it must be 7,62e3=Vi*30 not 8,65e3. Since it it the plane fly over your head, so 8.65e3 is the heightand it is unchanged
