Question
A circuit consists of a series combination of 6.00-k and5.00-k resistors connected across a 50,0-V battery havingnegligible internal resistance. You want to measure the truepotential difference (that is, the potential difference without themeter present) across the 5.00-k resistor using a voltmeterhaving an internal resistance of 10.00-k. (a) What potentialdifference does the voltmeter measure across the 5.00-kresistor? (b) What is the true potential difference acrossthe resistor when the meter is not present? (c) Bywhat percentage is the voltmeter reading in error from thetrue potential difference?Explanation / Answer
I know to solve for part a you just treat the resistor of the voltmeter as a resistor in parallel with the other 2 and from that youshould be able to get potential diff. for part be solve without thevolt meter, and divide a and b for c. hope that helps
