Question
Two long wires lie in the xy plane, one along the line y = a and another along the line y = -a. The current in the y=a wire is I1 in the +x direction, the other wire carries current I1 in the -x direction. A) Explain how you would calculate the magnetic flux through a rectangular loop of height h and width w centered on the origin. B) Calculate the flux through the coil for a = 5 cm, l1 = 2 A, h = 3 cm and w = 4 cm. C) Both currents decrease to 0 linearly in 2 seconds. Find the induced emf in the loop and show the direction of the induced current in the loop.Explanation / Answer
(a) by ampere law
Magnetic flux=u*current enclosed in loop
But here current enclosed=0 so net flux=0
(b) zero
(c) as flux change is zero so no emf will be induced, also no current will be induced
