Explanation / Answer
The one which target the protein synthesis is more selective toxic to the bacteria. Because the eukaryotes has 80s ribosomes and prokaryotes 70s ribosomes. Both have different subunits so it is easy to target the prokartotic alone.
The chloroamphenicol targets the 50s ribosome subunits and halt the protein synthesis.
Erythromycin binda to 50s and inhibit the translocation of ribosome.
Streptomycin binds to 30s makes mRNAA read incorrectly.
Tetracyclin binds to A site and halt the binding of mRNA and ribosome.
2. -lactam antibiotic are comes under broad specturm. It affect both G+ve and G-ve bacteria. Eg. cephalosporins and the penicillins .
The -lactam antibacterials block the crosslinking of peptide chains during the biosynthesis of new peptidoglycan in the bacterial cell wall. They are able to block this process because the -lactam structure is similar to the structure of the peptidoglycan subunit component that is recognized by the crosslinking transpeptidase.
