Now let path adb be reversed, so we get a cycle acbd

Qbd = - 34 J

also for a cycle : U = 0

W = Q

Wac + Wcb + Wbd + Wda = Qac + Qcb + Qbd+ Qda

Qac + Qcb = Qacb = 90 J given

Wac + Wcb = wacb = 50 J

Wbd = o, constant volume

50 + Wda + 0 = 90 - 34 + Qda

Wda = 6 + Qda

now area under cycle = 40 J

area under curve cb = 50 J, as wcb = 50J

area under curve = ad = 50 - 40 = 10 J = Wda

10 = 6 + Qda

Qda = 4J

or Qad = -4J
