Question

Consider a moving sidewalk, such as the ones commonly found in airports. For one particular such moving sidewalk you notice that it takes you 75.0 s to ride while standing from one end to the other. You also note that if you walk next to the moving sidewalk, instead of on it, it takes you 50.0 s to walk from one end to the other. A) How long would it take you to go from one end to the other if you walked while riding the moving sidewalk? B) How long would it take you if you walked on the moving sidewalk in the opposite direction that it was moving? I don't even know where to start on this problem. Please help! :-)

Explanation / Answer

t1=x/v1=75 t2=x/v2=50 a)t3=x/(v1+v2)=30s b)t4=x/(v2-v1)=150s
