Write a paragraph to answer the following question:

If you are butt welding two plates of cold worked aluminum together using a V-groove weld joint. If you require three passes to completely fill the joint, describe what happens in the heat affected zone. Note that we have described what happens with one pass in class, now extend that to a weld that is thick enough to require three passes.

Explanation / Answer

If we uses more than one passes I.e done in three passes more and more heat will be conducted near the heat affected zone and hence situation will be severe.also one major problem of aluminium is formation of oxide .if it get longer time oxide will be formed on the welded portion. Hence quality of weld nugget will decrease.
