Joseph Rudyard Kipling who is famously known a Rudyard Kipling was born on December 30, 1865, Bombay (Mumbai), India. He died on 18 January, in London.
Rudyard Kipling spent the early five years of his early childhood in Mumbai with his parents. He was then taken to South Sea, England for his formal education. He was first placed in foster care under Holloways, and, later he was admitted to a boarding school in Devon.He describes these years as the most hard days of his life in his autobiography. After the completion of his schooling he came to India 1882, where he joined a local newspaper in Lahore, and worked as a journalist in various parts of India. He returned to England in 1889 to live there. By this time he was famous for poetry and fiction.
In 1882, Rudyard Kipling married Caroline Balestier. The couple had three children, two daughters Josephine and Elsie, and a son John. He lived with his family in U.S.A till 1896 since the marriage, then he moved back to England and settled down in Sussex.
In 1907 Rudyard Kipling became the first English writer to receive Nobel prize in Literature. He is best known for his prose and verse that was set in Indian background and sometimes had glimpses of his personal life. His famous writings include 'Plain Tales from the Hills'(1888), 'The Jungle Book' (1894), 'Stalky and Co.' (1899), 'Kim' (1901), ' Just So Stories' (1902), and ' Puck of Pook's ' (1906).
