Question
Calculate the net ATP produced from oxidation of glucose during glycolysis, and explain why this number is only a fraction of the energy that is available from one glucose molecule (... think TCA etc). Calculate the net ATP produced from oxidation of glucose during glycolysis, and explain why this number is only a fraction of the energy that is available from one glucose molecule (... think TCA etc). Calculate the net ATP produced from oxidation of glucose during glycolysis, and explain why this number is only a fraction of the energy that is available from one glucose molecule (... think TCA etc).Explanation / Answer
In the case of glycolysis only 2 ATP are produced by the process whereas in other cases more ATP are produced it is because glycolysis is an anaerobic process and in other those are aerobic process which also resulted in the formation of NADH ..!! due to the anaerobic process the NADH cannot be formed or oxidized hence less energy
