1. I don't think society lost it's ability to do science effectively do to social media, but I do think it makes science more difficult. Social media can be an effective tool if used in the right way. Social media can provide awareness and information to the masses about different subjects regarding science. Social Media can also be a deterrent against science when pop culture gets involved. Pop culture has a big influence on people and what they believe. For example Kim Kardashian provided misleading information on her social accounts about the morning sickness medication Dielegis. The FDA had to step in and reach out to the public to make sure that all the safety information about the medication was correct. Robert De Niro and Jenny McCarthy has both spoken out against vaccinations and the dangers they feel it causes. The people that follow these celebrities on social sites tend to agree with their views and make some of the choices they make. What a lot of people don't realize is that these celebrities don't have the expertise or background to form opinions about the topics they are discussing. Overall, I do believe society will be able to do science effectively but not without a few bumps in the road.

2. I believe that society has not lost its ability to do science effectively, but nowadays social media exert a very strong social pressure in terms of scientific studies and research. This causes that in many of the research cases the pertinent observations are not made and responses are given lightly without having corroborated the information with more time in order to have an answer that satisfies the social media or to promote itself publicly, which It was not seen before with the scientists who were characterized by their humility. Centuries ago, it was not enough for Newton or Galileo to make discoveries capable of changing history. They also had to repeat their experiments in front of all their colleagues, and these, in turn, repeated them on their own before being completely convinced. Teman Cooke states in the video: "what would it take for me to show that my explanation of a phenomenon it true?" ... "I have to check every observation"
Currently there is a group of researchers from the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands who are in charge of analyzing the work of other scientists and checking whether the fundamental rules that define good science are being respected. This in order for science to follow its main objective in the search for truth in the most objective way possible. In a recent article, Stanford University School of Medicine researcher John Loannidis maintains a discourse worthy of the Greek philosophers of antiquity. Where it emphasizes that "Science tries to approach the truth as much as possible and not to obtain spectacular but erroneous results," he says in his article in which he asks that the search for truth be given the highest priority. In 2005 he published a study in which he stated that "up to 90% of the studies used by doctors to guide their diagnoses were defective". So, I can say that social media does influence science but that behind all this, there are even those who fight and want to not miss the point.

I agree with the idea that social media has been a threat to the beliefs and proofs of science and misleading people as they blindly believe the well known people and this is the idea behind the promotion of products which may be dangerous to health in the long run when they were promoted through celebrities as they have little knowledge about what they are promoting about. I agree with the idea because the fact is due to convince the media the researches were made lightly and erroneous whereas in older days due to absence of connectivity, the researches were made correctly with caution and had to be proved with proper references and observations.
