A 12-year-old male complained of strange odors before loss of consciousness and a major tonic-clonic seizure. During the seizure, his parents rushed him to the emergency room of a local hospital. On arrival at the hospital, he appeared to be asleep. Studies at the hospital showed routine laboratory work within normal limits (WNL), lumbar puncture (CSF) was WNL, no evidence of skull fracture on x-ray study was revealed, and an electroencephalograph (EEG) showed no abnor­malities. Tonic phase:Bilateral muscle rigidity
Clonic phase: muslce contraction and relaxation lasting 1 to 3 minutes
Signs:
Tachycardia, hyerpventilation,sweating, and intense salivation
Last 3-5 minutes
postictal state(5 to 20 mintues)follows
-gradual return to consciousness
