Answer-1- Qualitative Research- This type of research can be described as primary exploratory research. The main purpose of qualitative research is to achieve understanding of opinions, motivations etc. It is very helpful for developing hypothesis for quantitative research. The main methods which are used for qualitative research include group discussions, interviews, observations or participations. Sample size for this research is generally small.
Quantitative Research- The main goal of quantitative research is to quantify issues with the help of generated data which is very useful in statistics of research. It is used to assess opinions, attitudes, behviors etc. It also quantifies defined variables. It requires larger samples for generalizations. The methods used in quantitative research are more structured than qualitative research. It includes different methods like surveys, face to face interviews, online polls, telephonic interviews etc.
Quantitative data is more structured and use questionnaires containing open and closed questions. On the other hand, qualitative data is gathered through unstructured or semistructured group or individual interviews.
Answer-2- Naturalistic observation is the study of functions in an unchanged and normal environment of subject. This kind of observation focuses on people's behavior in their normal environment. Participant observation also study the natural behavior of participants. It is an advanced form of naturalistic observation. But there are few differences also. In naturalistic observation, information is gathered in natural circumstances and on the basis of senses. In participant observation, the observer also participates in the group which is being observed and sometimes people become conscious during observation.
