(Answer) Location – Since Ms. M is a septuagenarian, it would be most convenient for her to live on the same block as her grown children live. Her relocation should be considered upon those terms. She should move about an hour away to where her children would find it easy to visit or perhaps even just walk to her home to visit her.
Housing – Ms. M is not at an age where she is entirely nimble and can clean a huge house, maintain a yard, handle fixtures and maintenance. This is why it would be best for her to move into a flat in a building. Firstly, a flat is smaller than a house and easier to maintain. Secondly, a building would have a common electrician, plumber or maintenance person that is frequently hired for issues with utility. This would make it easier for Mrs. M to manage her flat. Furthermore, neighbours are within earshot and are hence easier to reach in case of an emergency.
Furniture – Ms. M could easily save money on furniture that she would need in her new flat by moving it to the new place. However, any extra furniture should be sold and the extra money could be used to refurbish any small areas of the new flat.
Finance – Mrs. M would not have to worry too much about a heavy mortgage because she owns the house that she is trying to sell. She can simply transfer the value to the new flat and take care of the expenses.
Psycho-social – Ms. M would be relieved to live closer to her children who would find it easier to visit and spend time with her. Furthermore, she would have fewer responsibilities from living in a flat. If Ms. M lives in a city, she would be able to meet her daily needs and purchases as well. This would render a certain ease of living for Ms. M.
