Answer: 1- Theory of mind is an ability to understand (recognizes and attribute) own and others’ mental processes that is beliefs, thought processes, perceptions, desires and feelings. According to theory of mind person has innate tendency to know and attribute his/her own beliefs, thought processes, perceptions, desires and feelings as well as others’ means person is able to understand that what, and why mental processes are there and how they are effecting their or others’ behavior. A person can lack in this ability because of some disorders like Asperger’s syndrome, autism, schizophrenia, sociopathy, substance dependence and other mental disorders. We call this theory as mind is not directly observable; we make assumptions about our own and others’ perceptions, thought processes and emotions on the basis of experience.
There is one more concept similar to theory of mind (ToM), that is empathy, empathy is related to emotions and feelings of other person but in ToM person understand and attribute thoughts, perceptions etc. without feeling them.

Study of Theory of mind gave vast areas of researches in every aspect of human development and life.
