Explanation / Answer
question 49: Aerobic process takes palce in presence of the oxygen however anaerobic method takes place in absence of oxygen. During aerobic respiration glucose is oxidised to produce energy rich compound called ATP.
Production of ATP takes place in the mtochondria of the cell. This process of breakdown of glucose inside mitochondria in presence of oxygen is called glycolysis In glycolysis six glucose molecule split into pyruvate. which oxidised into NADH and ATP.
C6H12O6 + 6O2 -------> 6CO2 + 6H2O+ATP
Hence the correct option is (A) in the mitochondria in the process of glycolysis..
Question 50: Oxidation of fatty acids involves oxidative removal of carbon units in the form of acetyl coenzyme A.Fatty acids produces more ATP when they oxidised to CO2 and water by beta oxidation. Beta oxidation takes placein mitochondrial memberane where it split the fatty acids into acetate which combine with CoA to form acetyl CoA.
Hence the correct option is : glucose is needed for fatty acid oxidation to convert fatty acid into fatty acyl-CoA which in turn is oxidised into acetyl CoA.
Question 51: Aerobic process takes place in presence of oxygen .During this process large ammount of energy are generated in the form of ATP. ATP is synthesised with the help of oxygen throught the process of oxidative phosphorylation. The process takes palce by electron transport chain in which liberated electron is accepted by oxygen and ATP produced.Hence without oxygen electron transport chain could not work.
Hence, all the bove option are correct.
Question 52: citric acid cycle is a series of chemial reaction. This mehod is involved by aerobic organism. through this process aerobic organism releases the stored energy throught the oxidation of acetyl coenzyme. IT is also called TCA cycle or tricarboxylic acid cycle. The cycle consumeacetyle CoA and water and reduces it to NAD+ and NADH. NADH is further passed through oxidative phosphorylation. Thus produces energy in the form of ATP
Hence correct option is aerobic glycolysis.
Question 54: Breaking down of ATP to ADP involves the release of energy.During this process 3 molecules of phosphate in ATP reduces to form 2 molecules of phosphate in ADP and thus removing one phosphate in the form of Pi. Thus Adenosine triphospahate is reduced into Adenosine diphosphate. This occurs due to the change in the oxidation state.
Question 55:
secondly during this process energy stored in the phosphate bond is released along the product side . so it is Exergonic reaction.
Hence both option (B) and (D) is correct
