A criminal justice policy that has spread across the nation is the policy of decriminalizing marijuana.colorado has legalized marijuana causing a big stir in many states. Many people supported this policy but there were obviously those individuals that opposed this policy. After legalization in Colorado the state saw a huge influx of tax revenue from marijuana sales and a decrease in drug related arrest. There was a positive influence on revenue and reduction in the cost of government. This reduction in drug related arrest had an impact on incarceration rates which has reduced pressure on overburdened criminal justice system.becuase of its perceived benefits some states have legalized marijuana while other states have been more reluctant to fully legalize it. Colorado’s legalized marijuana laws are impacting neighboring Nebraska, Arizona, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, and Wyoming. States bordering Colorado are concerned with the amount of time, resources, and expenses required in arresting and prosecuting offenders for the diversion of marijuana. Cartel operations and other criminals may be using the thriving black market to stage illegal shipments to other states.
