Question
Assume the network adopts another routing protocol in which, the primary metric is the link speed (the highest is the best) and the number of hops is used as a tie break to choose between two routes to the same destination with the same speed. Complete the routing table of R1 shown below using the new metric.(Hint: if the route consists of multiple links with different speeds, the route net speed equals to that of the slowest link in the route )
The answer I have is:
Destination
Next hop
Speed
10.10.10.0
----
100 Mbps
30.30.30.0
R3
100 Mbps
40.40.40.0
R3
100 Mbps
50.50.50.0
R6
100 Mbps
70.70.70.0
R6
100 Mbps
Is this correct?
Destination
Next hop
Speed
10.10.10.0
----
100 Mbps
30.30.30.0
R3
100 Mbps
40.40.40.0
R3
100 Mbps
50.50.50.0
R6
100 Mbps
70.70.70.0
R6
100 Mbps
Explanation / Answer
your table is correct if you are taking source as R1 i.e 10.10.10.10 in all the cases. but when you take 30.30.30.30 as a destination and if you want to go to 40.40.40.40 the hop would be R8. you considered it to be R3 beacuse your source is 10.10.10.10. this is what I understood from your table.
