1.Nowadays all of us storing their private personal data in the form of digital. Although digital information is more secured by using highly encrypted passwords and ID cards.
2.But still there is misuse of passwords is occurred. simultaneously there is misuse of personal data is occurring by the third person.
3.So this will cause to introducing the biometric security systems to the society.
4.What is biometrics:- Biometrics is defined as the unique (personal) physical/logical characteristics or traits of human body . These characteristics and traits are used to identify each human.
7 biometric security devices
1.Fingerprint Identification:- Normally fingerprint ridges are formed in the womb.once it is formed it won’t changed.as the person age increases the size of fingers increases.But the ridges are won’t change.This causes the identification of user can done using these Fingerprint Identification devices.
2.Hand geometry:-The user can be identified by comparing different physical characteristics of hand.
3.palm vein authentication:-This biometric device uses the infrared beam to penetrate the user hand to check whether the user is authorized or not.
4.Retina scan:-This device scans the capillary blood vessels located in the back of the eye so the user can be authorized.
5.Iris scan:-This iris scanner device checks the rings.,furrows and freckles in the rings of the human eye so the user can be authorized
6.Signature:-Although human signature changes every time but this device provides the basic means of identification.
7.Voice Analysis:-The user can be identified by using pitch tone,cadence and frequency of person’s voice
Potential disadvantages of using biometric devices
1.The main disadvange of biometrics is it is very cost to buy each biometric device.
2.It is difficult to move biometric from one place to another place(Branches of contoso corporation company at various places in the country).
3.If there is suddon damage occurs in the any biometric device it is difficult to repair the device it will cost some amount.
4.Consider contoso corporation uses the IRIS SCAN Biometric device(In the case both the eyes of employee very good).If any of the employee in the corporation have permanent injure with eye.In this case the company should maintain another Biometric device(Fingerprint,Hand geometry etc..). It will cost something.
5.If the above situation occurs the company should maintain another database for the particular user.
