Question

What would you do? You are an importer of gourmet beef mostly from the United Kingdom. You sell your beef products mostly to US high end supermarkets (like Whole Foods) but you also have a line of beef products that you sell to mass market supermarkets (like Safeway etc.). The US Departement of Agriculture has issued a warning that there might be an embargo of beef products from the UK as there have been alleged outbreaks of "mad cow" disease in the UK. (If humans eat the meat of a cow infected with Mad Cow disease, they can die.) Right now, the US government is watching the situation. Sixty percent of the firm's beef comes from the UK and the remaining is imported from Argentina. The beef from Argentia is not considered to be as high quality and typically not sold at the high end supermarkets. 70% of this firms's sales are from UK beef products. (Normally, you can charge more for UK beef than Argentinian beef.) Your UK partner is assuring you that all is ok.

What would you do as the owner of this import firm? What would you do immediately and what would you do over the next year?

Explanation / Answer

I immediately stop importing from uk partner an increase import from Argentina ,because if i import from uk partner it is dangerous to the people who eat it and obviously people wont buy it , so i have to stop the bussiness .so instead of stopping my busineess i would earn less but hold a positive talk about my business . For the next i will ask the uk partner not to use the mad cow ,and if he supplies a quality cow i would import from him increasing his import percentage gradually, otherwise i would search for a new partner.
