Explanation / Answer
Processes are the core of organisations. Business Process Management (BPM) argues organisations can gain competitive advantage by improving and innovating their processes through a holistic process-oriented view. An organisation can be more or less process-oriented depending on their experience in applying process thinking for better results. Intangibles, such as partnerships, suppliers, collaborations, skills, knowledge, innovation, and patents and other intellectual property, leadership, reputation, and culture are now becoming the essence of a competitive advantage. These variables affect the implementation of change in an organisation to a great extent. Different people come from varied cultural, economic and technical backgrounds. Once, organisations collaborate with other entities, a lot of role changes, job shifting takes place. For the betterment of the organisation it is important to consider these factors and ensure that people in the organisation are able to accomodate the same.
In case of a process oriented organisation, it is crucial to have clearly defined roles. In case of major changes, the management should involove all employees in the feedback process and take their suggestions. A more participative and decentralised organisation will always have better growth. Informal conversations and recreation trips could be organised once in a while for people across different level to interact and build cohesion.
