Explanation / Answer
Yes definition of a manager has been changed based on this course. Initially I thought that managerial activities were related to supervision of a team regarding a project or activity bestowed on him/her. My thinking level was confined. After going through this course my thinking level has been widened regarding managerial qualities. Earlier I thought that managers were responsible for coordinating daily operations. But managers are future leaders of the organizations. They should not be restricted themselves in daily to day activities only. Effective managers set a direction for the team, lead the team through motivational approach and meet the targets within stipulated time. They drive the cultural change for sustainable profitable growth of the organization as per the requirement.
I still agree with the good qualities originally identified. Effective managers motivate the employees to reach their goals successfully. Managers should have analytical mind to solve the problems and courage to overcome the barriers. They are highly disciplined and that is why others follow them. They are having excellent communication skills are able to learn from the mistakes. They maintain strong relationship with the employees, delegate responsibilities and build a sense of ownership among them. They are the future leaders of the organization.
