3000 points!! Hello, I am having trouble recognizing what type of mechanism will take place, SN1, SN2, E1, or E2. Im mostly having trouble with whether the reactant is a nucleophile or a base. Here are some examples, how do I know whether Its a a strong or weak base? I understand very strong nucleophiles have a negative non-stable charge, and stable negative charge like the halogens are good nucleophiles.
1) NaH
2)NaNH2
3)NaSPh
4)SOCl2
5)LiSCH3
6)CH3OH
7) PBr3
8) NaOH.
9) NaCN
9)--- I have also been told that If Sulfur is included, you don't have to worry about Elimination, is this true?
10) Also, most of the things im having trouble on involves reactants that are inorganic, like PBr3 and NaNH2, or NaI, NaO.. What is important to know about Sodium? Thank you so much!!
