Mass of atmosphere = 5.25 * 1018 kg = 5.25 *1021 g Molar mass = 29.0 g/mol Moles of air = Mass / molar mass = 5.25 * 1021 g / 29 g/mol = 0.181 * 1021 moles Percent of Nitrogen = 78.03 % So moles of nitrogen = (78.03 / 100 ) * 0.181* 1021 =0.141 * 1021 moles mass of nitrogen = Moles * molar mass =0.141 * 1021 moles * 28 g/mol =3.96 * 1021 g = 3.96* 1018 kg similarly ,we can calculate for the other two gases. % of O2 = 20.99 % Molar mass of O2 = 32 g/mol % of CO2 = 0.033 % Molar mass of CO2 = 44 g/mol =0.141 * 1021 moles mass of nitrogen = Moles * molar mass =0.141 * 1021 moles * 28 g/mol =3.96 * 1021 g = 3.96* 1018 kg similarly ,we can calculate for the other two gases. % of O2 = 20.99 % Molar mass of O2 = 32 g/mol % of CO2 = 0.033 % Molar mass of CO2 = 44 g/mol
